Premiere Pro CC 2018 Crashing When I Trim Clips
Hi,
I updated to Premiere Pro CC 2018 yesterday, and have since have had multiple problems with the software. Most common, most times I try to "Drag Edge of Clip" (trim) to expand it in the timeline, I automatically get shut down.
My workaround has been to use the Razor tool to cut where I need to, but if I forget, I get shut down again.
Other than my workaround (or any other workarounds) is there a way to fix this so I won't crash as often.
Thanks!
Help! Audio & video don't sync after export; look perfect inside of Premiere Pro
-Summary: I need your help, please. A ~40min video I edited in Premiere Pro looks perfect (audio & video match up) when I watch the project from start to finish inside PP. Once I export it, the audio and video no longer match up.
Details: I received an intact video as a .mov file from a friend who wished to have several short segments cut out. It's a 40-min video of her giving a speech,and someone had already edited it a bit by adding an intro graphic and outro graphic which faded in/out. It's got a constant frame rate.
I found the segments she disliked and removed them using the cutting tool. Each time I removed a chunk of the video, I cut audio/video at the exact same time, and then dragged the rest of the video back over to make it as seamless as possible so there were no blank spots of video. In addition, I added a few graphics I made in PHotoshop to a separate video channel to overlay at certain times. I watched the video all the way through, especially right before/after my "cut points" (where I cut stuff out) to ensure it all synced up and flowed smoothly. It did. It was all fine. I exported it as an .mp4 H.264.
The first time I exported it, there was a short flash of red just a second after the video started, during the intro graphic the video had before I received it, and then - when the first speaker began to talk on the video, it was all out of sync. It was out of sync even before my "cut points" in the video where I'd removed stuff. I didn't understand this. So I tried closing the project, rebooting the computer, restarting Premiere Pro, and exporting it again, and this time it was fine! Audio/video fine from start to finish all synced up, perfect for her to load to her Facebook group.
Then my friend decided she needed one more segment removed towards the end of the video. So I removed that segment, watched the video inside of PP, saw that all was synced up (including all of my previous cut points), and exported. This time, the finished video was out of sync again, starting close to the first cut point, even though it had been FINE the previous time I exported it.
I checked the original video because I read a comment saying if it has a variable frame rate, that can cause an issue, but it seems to have a fixed frame rate.
I'm an expert in Photoshop but a novice at Premiere Pro. And I'm really frustrated! If you can help, I'd appreciate it.
I'm using a Intel-based Ultrabook laptop (not a mac), Adobe Premier Pro from the monthly subscription (so it is their latest and greatest version.) The video was given to me as a .mov file and I'm exporting it as a .mp4 using the setting H.264. She wants to play it in her Facebook group.
Are there any subsettings I should be setting? adjusting? Is there an important setting I am not clicking/unclicking/selecting?
When I export, here's what it says:
Output: filename.mp4, 1920x1080 (1.0), 23.976fps, Progressive, Software Encoding, ...VBR, 1 pass, Target 10.00Mbps, Max 12.00 Mpbs, AAC, 320kbps, 48 KHz, Stereo
Source: 1920x1080(1.0), 23.976fps, Progressive, 00:41:35:03, 48000Hz, Stereo.
So I don't know if I'm doing something wrong when I cut and drag the video/audio pieces around. They're linked, so they move as a unit. But am I doing something incorrectly? Is there a "right way" or "better way" to do this? Also, am I supposed to do something else once I cut pieces of video out to ensure that the remaining parts sync up together? Could I be accidentally stretching something w/out even knowing it? I noticed the thing doesn't like to export unless the blue starter bar is right at 00:00:00, so I make sure it's there. If I do that wrong, could I be messing things up? I'm so confused.
Am I doing something wrong? (probably yes -- but I'm a novice at PP, so I won't know what it is until you help me.)
I really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance! XOXO - Jennifer
Editing separate sequences and combining at end?
If possible I'd like to use different sequences to break my project into an introduction, middle, and end.
1. Is there a way to export a video if I do it this way so it connects are three sequences seamlessly?
2. If not, what is the best way to edit into different sequences this way and at the end put the whole project into a single sequence?
Thanks.
Thin black vertical line on right edge of video appears when exporting video from Premiere Pro
I have been exporting Quicktimes from Premiere Pro CC (Latest Ver) in both ProResHQ and H264 format. I am working on an Mac.
I am getting a very thin black vertical line in the right edge of the video for both formats. This has only been happening recently. The only thing I can think of is either the last update to Premiere Pro CC, or possible having recently upgraded to Mac OS Yosemite. After an internet search, I see users were having a similar problem with Quicktime back in 2010, but can't find any posts as of late. Not sure if this is related.
This line is very noticeable when posting videos on Youtube and Vimeo, as both websites have a white background.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue?
Thanks.
Video loop wont loop outside Premiere Pro
Hello all.
I am very new to Premiere Pro so I am assuming I am missing something obvious here, but I have followed online tutorials and seem to have made the clip loop fine in Premiere Pro, but once its exported and I play it with my default movie player (I can't tell what the player is unfortunately but suspect its Windows media player since it was chosen for me) it only plays once.
This was a longer time-lapse video that I clipped in PP. I am making a small loop for my website so I need to really shrink the time-lapse from its original size. Anyway, I clipped a section of the video so it was only 10 seconds long.
Then I moved that to the start of the time lime.
Then I split it with the razor, moved the front to the back, used the cross dissolve in the center to smooth the transition, added the loop tool and turned it on and away it went. Works great in PP and plays until I stop it.
However, it will only play once after its exported.
Is there something I need to check in the export window to export it as a continuous loop?
I appreciate any advice or help you can offer. I have googled the heck out of this and can't find an answer.
Thanks!!!
Premiere Pro CC 2019 is putting a weird grainy, blue outline around my .mov files that are from After Effects
I just got a new computer and when I installed Adobe CC onto it, it updated to the 2019 versions. That's fine, but now when I open up files from my old projects there is this gross blue outline around any .mov animation that I made in After Effects. I usually only render alpha channels in AE and then can move the animated objects around the Premiere file. Also whenever I have one of those animations fade in or so any sort of movement instead of fading normally a blue solid of the fade appears and then it turns into the color its supposed to. I've attached a few images as an example of what I'm talking about. You can see the fading issue in the gif I posted. The house on the right is supposed to fade in after the outline is done to fill the color, but instead, it just pops in blue then turns white. Anyone else having this problem or know what is going on? Thanks!

It may be a little tricky to see at first but if you zoom in or look at the words which I typed in Premiere and are not exported then imported in there is a clear difference in the outline of these images. Mainly that the words don't have them and the animations do and it looks terrible.
Error retrieving frame **** at time **
I am trying to footage taken at a recent event that I shot with one camera, I imported it into premiere pro cc 2019 and then exported it only to get this error message every few seconds.
"Error retrieving frame **** at time **:**:**:** from the file"
The footage was shot on a C300 at 24 fps, in full HD, the sequence is 24 fps 1920x1080 which is a match./
it's only when I try to export it out that I start getting the error.
Please help.
Thanks

PNG with Alpha Workarounds
These several workarounds have been posted by users here, I'm listing them together for use by all the community.
----------------
Find the original png file in the project viewer, right click -> Modify -> Interpret Footage.
Under the Alpha Channel category, select "Conform Alpha Premultiplication To:
And also select the box: Premultiplied Alpha
-----------------
Haven't got time to go back though the thread to see if someone else has come up with this but the only way to fix it is to replace all of the .png files as .psd. Finished a TVC this morning full of .png graphics and animations. Saved them all as .psd and it's perfect.
-------------------
brought all my PNGs into After Effects and saved them as .MOV files with transparent backgrounds.
If you don't know how to save with transparent backgrounds, this was helpful: Quick Tip: Exporting with Alpha Channels in After Effects - The Beat: A Blog by PremiumBeat
I then brought the new MOV files into Premiere and put them in place of the PNGs. It was annoying to add the transitions all over again, but it worked! Deleting all PNGs from my project helped too. Anytime there was just one in the sequence, my whole video would render messed up. I too had a deadline today, and spent about 4 hours trying to figure out the problem. This was the best solution I could find for the time being.
Multicam Runaway CTI or Play Head
With this latest version Pr 2017 - 1.2 when I review my video in the Multi-camera screen the play head just keeps going. It will not respond to any commands to stop. It seems to stop when the Pr does an auto save. I had this problem with earlier versions of Pr. It seemed to have been fixed but now it is back worse than ever. This is the first time I have used milti cam since the last version was installed.
To update my status with the problem - I had also changed in Preferences - Timeline Playback Auto scrolling to: Smooth Scrolling. I returned to Page Scrolling and that seems to have helped the runaway problem.
Stuck trying to figure out audio export channels
Hi everyone,
I hope that someone can assist me with this problem I am having. I have a video that I made in Premiere (using 2019) which is an hour and 40 minutes long. The video consists of 100's of clips. In the timeline of the video I believe I have only 2 audio tracks and maybe 9 video tracks.
The person that wanted the file asked me for an export which consists of: Pro Res 422 HQ (which I found), but the thing which is giving me the most difficulty is figuring out how to export the audio they want.
They are requesting: Audio: Stereo and 5.1 with 8 channels.
1= Left
2= Right
3= Center
4= LFE (Low Frequency Effects)
5= Left surround
6= Right surround
7= Left total
8= Right total
I looked up on the forums on how to make this work, but I can't figure it out. Here is my sequence setup:
Is there a way for me to make it 8 channels and set them up like they requested above?
I have been struggling with this for a few days now.
Premiere Pro won't play any video unless I reset the preferences in every start.
So, as the titles explains. Unless I reset the settings everytime I open a project I can't play any video.
The sound will play but not the video. I have spent the last two days trying to work this out and finally found this work around it.
What is causing this problem? How can I fix it? It's so annoying, I almost set my new laptop back because I though it was an hardware problem.
I really apreciate if someone knows how to fix it.
I already did all the usuals, Sound check, the playback etc ect.
Thanks
Premiere Pro Creating Weird Zero KB TextEdit files
Hi all,
In the past week, I've noticed anytime I create a new Premiere Pro project or open an existing project it makes odd files (containing numbers and letters eg. 478d7f12-2c9b-4ad5-a3dc-20f0d40c63c3) in the same folder as the .prproj file.
The files are saying they are zero bytes and don't contain any data. They also stay there after closing the project and accumulate the longer I use the project.
I am also having issues seeing my audio waveforms in any project I create. The only way to see audio waveform is to zoom in. Could these issues be related?
I was running Premiere Pro 2018 (v12.1.2) and have updated to Premiere Pro 2019 (v13.0.3) but the issue hasn't changed.
Please help!
Thank-you,

Premiere Pro 2019 13.0.2 deleting Media from hard drive
Hi,
as the title says, Premiere is deleting Media in the background. I'm working on a project with 4500 clips from 4 different Red cams. from 4,5K to 8K. They got all connected with their proxies created by the camera in Premiere 2018, since Premiere 2019 doesnt automatically connect them.
When working on the project, it happens from time to time, that premiere randomnly deletes media from my hard disk. It deletes always the whole Folder from a cam. Luckily we have 3 copys of the material but it always takes me several ours to copy those files back to the hard drive. This happened now for the 4th time and I'm really pissed.
Does anyone know a solution to this problem. I'm about to switch to davinci, as this is just unacceptable.
Side note: I noticed that when it happens while loading the project, the files in the loading bar have strange sign. Like &($%$&.r3d. I also recovered them once and thats how the were named before deletion:
$I4W2EQC.R3D
$IILXJV0.R3D
none of those files had this name. They are usually named:
M001_C002_1104KO_001.R3D
M001_C003_11049G_001.R3D

Help!
Trying to finish an edit and I keep getting this message if I even breath wrong. Have tried to turn off my NVIDIA card, have purged cache, have copied and pasted the edit in a new sequence and new project. Nothing I do seems to work. This is crazy. I am on my version 26 of the project because it keeps happening over and over again.

Toggle animation crash CC
Hi,
I've got a problem since i installed my Premiere Pro CC 2017.0.2 release.
Every time i toggle or untoggle an animation in effects tab in a clip, the program crashes and i get an error like: "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro CC to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project.)
Then i start the program up again, reload the autosave-file, try again and the result is the same... every time..
(1080p 50fps clips from a Sony RX100III camera)
Anyone got an idea of what it can be?

.png image wobbles during scaling only after export
Hi everyone, first time poster here.
I'm working on a project where I scale a .png image over video. I've worked with this image in previous projects without issue, however, on this project (which features identical settings), I am experiencing an issue whereby the image appears to wobble during scaling, post export only. The image is scaling from 85% to 15% over a period of 45s, using linear keyframes, ie there is no acceleration at play.
I'm using CC version 13.1.2 (Build 9), the project is 3840x1634px at 25fps (varying the frame rate has no effect).
I usually export using the H.264 - 'Match Source - High bitrate' settings, however, in attempting to resolve this, I have tried a multitude of export settings both for H264, as well as HEVC H.265 and others. The issue does not occur during playback in-programme - only on export. The smaller the scale of the image, the less severe 'wobble' seems to be.
I've included two examples below, as they probably demonstrate the issue far better than I've described it.

Audio Help - Premiere
I am coming across a bizarre and frustrating problem. I am creating Instructional videos and recording my screen and voice. I normalized all audio to try to make it all the same.... and it sounds pretty good in Premiere. But.... everytime I export, the sound seems to dull down or sound like its fading in on every place where the clip/sound was edited or cut. Audio settings are default. I can't seem to export and I'm having to redo every clip that has this sort of low, dull, fade in sound.
At first I noticed this happening when I used the audio panel, I have since cleared ALL audio settings, and still having the same issue. Has anyone come across this?
What is going on?
thanks,

Seamless Loop hiccuping at restart
Hello all, I am back with another question.
I am new to Premiere Pro and I need to create a seamless loop with a time-lapse video for my website.
The video does repeat everywhere I view it, other than in youtube, but it has a noticeable flash, or hiccup, as it restarts its loop. This is noticeable everywhere I play it.
I have tried exporting it without the audio file and as an MPEG4 file but it still flashes at the end.
I have seen a few different forum posts about this but those posts are about the transition not being seamless. My transition is seamless everywhere I view and I am happy with it. For me, the issue is at the end, or the beginning (I cant tell which), and its a visible restart hiccup. Its not at all like those beautiful seamless loops I see where you cant tell where the break is. And on my website the whole screen flashes black for an instant when it ends and then it replays, ends, flashes, replays and so on.
I read somewhere that there might be black frames at the end that need to be removed. Not sure if this is right or not.
Hoping somebody can help.
Thanks!!!
When you delete a clip, Premiere should not delete all instances of it in all sequences
When you delete a clip, Premiere deletes all instances of that clip in all sequences using it - as if it never existed! That is a massive problem.
Especially considering Premiere's tendency to create multiple clip upon importing sequences, a project can get very messy! occasionally, we need to clean up our own projects, or maybe we need to clean up someone else's project we inherited. As editors, we need the ability to delete clips, and have an offline clip left in our sequences. The other two major NLEs both do that, because it MAKES SENSE!
I'm using Premiere Pro CC (2017.0.2) on Mac OS X 10.10.5
Steps to reproduce:
1. Inherit an ugly, disorganized project. Match frame a clip, then Reveal in Project. Realize its in some stupid overly-complicated bin structure, sitting there alone, not next to any of the other clips shot on that day or on that card (in some cases, the Recovered Clips bin is a perfect example of this, but other times it is inexplicable). Then poke around and see that you also already have a duplicate version of that same file sitting in a well organized portion of your project.
2. You want to delete the stupidly organized one, and connect to the well organized instance.
3. You can't because you get this message: "The selection you are deleting contains clip references in one or more sequences. If you continue these clip references will also be deleted. Do you want to continue?"
4. You hit no.
5. This is a confusing message (the word "clip reference" could mean anything) and a simpler way to say this would be "You are about to delete this clip from all sequences." Because of this confusion, some other editor involved in this project, clicked yes, and totally erased any evidence that the clip was ever used in any sequences.
6. Say "This is —."
7. Get on this discussion board, because it is apparently the only way to give feedback.
8. Say this "This is —" again.
9. Wonder how many times you'll use the word "—" today.
Results: —.
Expected results: You should at the very least be able to delete a clip and have an offline representation left in your timeline with a clip name, file path and timecode. If you had to manually find the clips and timecode and re-edit the clips in, at least it would be possible.
**As a bonus, it would be cool if Premiere just never ever created duplicate media when importing sequences. I can't think of a good reason for it.
***As another super cool bonus, it would be cool it you could take two identical clips and "merge" them. You'll have to think up a different word than "merge" of course, because that has its own meaning in Premiere.
