A low-level exception occurred in: ImporterQuickTime (Importer:25) Error

I keep receiving this error message when trying to import to Premiere. It loads the file but can not play, and Premiere eventually crashes.

I also get the same error in Media Encoder, it converts it fine into Mp4 and Mepg, however the audio is out of sync and it also crashes once imported into Premiere.

Warp stabilizer only works on certain clips

$

So I'm going through the process of using warp stabilizer on some really shaky footage in Premiere Pro CC, and it works just fine on one of the clips that im using in the video after ive nested it and everything. But it won't let me use it on any of the other clips? Even after I've nested them, it just won't let me apply it.

I tried nesting them and applying the warp stabilizer before applying it to the one that works, and that doesn't do anything. No matter what, it only works on that one clip and no others. I'm not sure what it is about that certain clip that allows it to be applied vs. the rest of them. It's not the speed of the clip, I think. I'm probably missing something super simple, but at the moment, I'm at a complete loss.

Changing tool and error sound

$

Hi everybody,

this is something I really hate when I work on a Windows machine. I usually press V for the selection tool, A for the Track Select Forward Tool, C for the cutting Tool and so on... Basically I use shortcuts to change tool. And the spacebar to play and stop the preview. The Alt + mouse wheel to zoom in and out in the timeline and so on.. Basic stuff. I feel comfortable with that and work runs fast.

Well, what happens is that sometimes an error/alert sound plays and cannot select the tool or play the preview using the spacebar. So I press it again, and another sound warning comes, then again.... and finally it works. But after a while (not even one minute) I do something else and tadaaaa the alert sound again. Really: one day I'll throw the pc out of the window or punch a random colleague in the face.

When I'm on Mac no issues. On Windows always.

Any help?

When adding cross dissolve to adjustment layer, video adds freeze frame...?

$

Going to try to explain this simply...

I have three videos, each with their own audio and their own adjustment layer (for color correction).

Between video 1 and 2, I can cross dissolve both video 1 to video 2, and adj layer 1 to adj layer 2, exponential fade from audio 1 to audio 2. Everything is fine. Transitions exactly the way I want.  (In this case, both videos are small cuts of longer footage)

Now, between video 2 and video 3, a cross dissolve won't work (figured that out after a moment of being very dumb) because video 3 needs to start right at the beginning... nothing to "cross" dissolve from. So, manual dissolve. Works fine. Expo fade in audio, fine.

But, because of how I did the color correcting on adjustment layers, I have to cross dissolve them as well.  Worked last time.

... and this is where I'm utterly confused.

When I apply a cross dissolve between adjustment layer 2 and 3, for some reason I do not understand, in the transition there is a freeze frame of the middle of video 3 that lasts until the end of the transition, wherein video 3 resumes as normal.  It's as if video 2 is being cross dissolved from just one frame of video 3. And a frame somewhere in the middle of it.

This doesn't make sense to me.  The adjustment layer isn't linked with the video at all.  It's just color correction. How and why is it affecting the video playback?

I have to find a solution tonight, so I'll probably end up doing something different (like just adding the color correction to the video), but I'm very curious as to what is happening.  If you need more information, just let me know.  I'm saving this file independently just to try to figure how what's happening.

Export Stuck

Hi, so I have this project that I'm working on for a couple of months and since last week I have the following problem. Every time I start exporting it, it gets stuck at 44%. I don't have any problems while rendering it inside the project. It's full of after effects linked comps and audition linked comps and it has a couple of graphics with alpha channels and so on but I didn't have this problem since recently. So when I go to around 44% of the project I can't find anything that could stop the export or make it do that. After exploring the part of the project around 44% and not finding anything I decided to render the 2nd third of the project in 3 sectors so I could locate the problem but all 3 sectors exported normally and after that I started another export of the full project and this time it exported normally and I closed the project. The next day I decided to try again and see if the problem is still present and.. it is. When I started exporting it got stuck at 44%. Then I did the whole thing with the sectors and I (again) was able to export it normally. So anyone got any idea why this is happening or how I could fix it? Thanks in advance !!!

P.S: I'm using Premiere Pro CC 2017
PC specs: CPU Intel I7 2600K
                  GPU Nvidia GTX 970

                  RAM 48GB 2666Mhz

How to set default export preset? Premiere Pro CC 2014

$

Hi,

I already asked this question in this thread , the discussion is marked as solved, however it's not. I think @jonny9091agrees with that the answer from @shooternz marked as correct doesn't even touch on the subject.

To avoid the same type of confusion let me make one thing clear:

this is not a question about how to set up a export preset, this question is about how to select a default export preset, the same way you can select and at will change a default video and audio effect.

Here is my post from the previous discussion, I hope it's clear what the problem is:

I have 12 presets saved and the number is still growing, I edit rushes into single clips every day and since they are shot on different cameras (DSLR, BMPCC, C300...) I have to use different presets for all of them.

At the moment when I hit export the setting always defaults to HD 720p 24 h.264 AAC 48kHz, which is useless to me personally as among other things all my exports have to have audio sampling dropped to 44100Hz. Before the update after selecting my preset once, Premiere defaulted to the selected preset in following sequences, now it always defaults to the 720p 24fps setting.

It might not seem like a big issue to some, however when you are editing in volume and dealing with loads of formats like me, the ability to rely solely on keyboard shortcuts is massively important as it allows me to smash through an edit with looking at the export window only once.

I do realise I could queue my exports into AME and drag and drop my preset to all queued exports, however that's a loss of time for me, as normally I trim and colour correct my first clip, send it to AME and start the export, then I go back to Premiere and work on the next clip, send it to AME.... This way by the time I get to my final clip 70%-90% of all my exports from that project will have finished, instead of waiting for all clips from one project to export.

I simply don't understand why there are some many options for storing effect presets and setting default effects but no default export setting or am I missing something? I like the new colours of the interface but functionality should always be more important.

Would be great to get an answer from Adobe about this but of course any suggestions and fixes are very welcome. If anyone knows of a way to downgrade to the previous version please tell me as from my perspective this version of premiere due to lack of functionality is not really an upgrade more of a 'bad facelift'.

Thank you in advance for any relevant answers!

Media Cache files management anomalies...

$

0

The following are not deal-breakers as I'm learning the manual ways to get around this but ... I'm wondering if there's any way around what appears to be limitations with Premiere's automatic management of Media Caches files that require my manual management of things...

  • If my SSD becomes full from Media Cache files Premiere creates, Premiere is not smart enough to start deleting the oldest cached files to keep some amount of disk space available. I shouldn't get a disk full error when Media Cache files can reasonably be purged. I must manually delete the cache and re-load the project. Perhaps I can understand Premiere avoiding this if cache files are kept side-by-side with source media, but when all cache is in one place it seems reasonable for Premiere to assume it owns those files. Ironically, one way around this is to possibly choose to keep media cache files next to source media... but that fails if the source media disk is too small... I hit the same issues and must play cache manager... with a centralized cache, seems Premiere can auto-purge better than it currently does.

  • I notice Premiere has some smarts with what it auto-generates cache files for... if I load a clip, it will create the pek/cfa files after completing the file it is conforming (if any... if it is free, it will confirm immediately). However, this seems a bit simplistic, and there seems to be more room to be a little smarter... for example, if I have one single clip Bin open, and I've got a clip from that bin in source monitor, my preference would be for Premiere to not only conform that clip, but to focus on that Bin which I have open, where I last opened/selected a clip (for either source monitor or anything else)... that "bin clip focus" (my own ad-hoc term) is enough for Premiere to say, "Hey, user has a clip just opened here, let's conform that clip, and continue in this bin to the next clip and so on." It doesn't seem to do that. It seems to conform the newly opened clip but then jumps back to its original order. I can sort of trick it somewhat by opening a bunch of clips in Source Monitor but that's an imperfect thing because it seems to jump and conform the most recently opened clips... so I can only apply this technique to drive cache management a few clips at a time (point of diminishing returns if I choose too many). The best workaround I've found is to Save As to temp project, and delete all bins except my bin of focus, let Premiere conform all remaining clips (in bin of focus, the only bin remaining), re-open original project where all clips in bin of focus will have been conformed... I can do my work, and Premiere continues conforming other clips.

The above items become especially noticeable if using Premiere for ingestion/analysis of many clips... the more clips in a Premiere project, the more beneficial it becomes to conform near an area where a user has focus. I guess this is to say currently Premiere does not focus near where a user last opened a clip... it can jump there for the most recently opened clip(s) but then jumps back to some "original" ordering...

I want to enter a feedback item on this but thought I'd ask... am I missing some hidden options somewhere to tweak things related to media cache managing, including auto-purging as well as clips to focus on for conforming new items to the cache?

Compound Keyboard Shortcuts

Is there any way to execute a series of commands with a single keyboard shortcut? For instance, using a shortcut to open the speed/duration dialog box and changing speed to 40% in one fell swoop? (essentially the equivalent of an "Action" in Photoshop)

Thanks for sharing your ideas and experience!

Premiere Pro CC'15/17 cannot playback

$

Hi all, I've googled around quite a bit and this seems to be a common problem. Has been mentioned on this forum too.

I have disabled all my audio devices and Premiere won't play back when I hit the space bar. I've tried switching the renderer to OpenCL/Software/CUDA/Metal in both 2015.3 (and 2015) and 2017.

The project is somewhat big, but not amazingly huge. I've tried different sound cards (USB and internal) on macOS Sierra. I remember I had the same issue in El Capitan. I also remember that CC2014 didn't have this problem.

Really frustrating that Adobe hasn't fixed this issue.

I literally cannot play anything and it eats up time out of my schedule. I look really bad in front of clients when I have to show them something.

It's also definitely not an nVidia issue, I've taken out the cards and used Intel GPU and same thing. I've tried it on a laptop too and same issue. I've also tried importing the project into a new project, same issue. I have tried deleting all preview files/caches/etc whatever else was found on this forum and other places.

Premiere Pro Marker Titles in Timeline?

$

I saw this as a feature request a few years ago and was curious if any headway has been made?

Show marker text in timeline?

I use AE and PR and having this ability in AE and not in PR is maddening.

I totally agree that sliding out the duration and showing the marker name is a good work-around (and a good feature), but it really isn't the exact functionality. I'm literally talking about how marker titles work in After Effects.

Cineform VS AVCHD

Hello,

I just got a windows 10 PC. It has a Xeon Processor, 16GB of Ram, Quardom4000 Graphics Card with 8GB of Video Memory.

Is there any point to transcoding AVCHD footage with this type of PC? This thing is wicked fast but I read that it's still recommended to transcode because Cineform is easier on faster machines and if you use prelude you can rename files and organize your files easier if you transcode.

Is there really any difference between AVCHD and Cineform? I'm also a little stumped because I read there is a 129 dollar version of Cineform and wondering if that's any better than the free codec that comes with Premiere?

Thanks,

Bryce

CC 2017: An unknown error occurred while opening the project.

A couple days ago I spent all day editing a project. It's about 10 minutes long and consists of all iPhone videos - various frame rates and resolutions. It came out great and I closed the project for the night. The next day I came back and tried to open the project and after the loading bar completes, I get the error: An unknown error has occurred while opening the project. Other projects open normally. New projects open normally. But this one does not. I am so upset and frustrated about the lost work.

I went to my recent auto saves and they give me the same error. If I go way back in the auto saves, they will open normally but that was before many hours of additional work on the edit.

I made a new project and tried to import the old project and I get the error: The importer reported a generic error.

I used Media Browser to view the project and the window where I should see everything is blank, even after the loading bar finishes.

I used Project Repair from Digital Rebellion's Pro Maintenance Tools which thinks it has repaired the project, but I get the same error when trying to open it.

I used CS Repair from Digital Rebellion's Pro Maintenance Tools to trash Premiere preferences. No help either.

I googled the error message endlessly and although the same question has been asked, none of them got an answer.

Please advise.

Help Improve Premiere! FR: Separate, maximizable Multi-camera view

$

Do you ever use Premiere CC's Multi-Camera tools?  Then this FR is for you!

Please copy/paste as your own and send tohttps://www.adobe.com/go/wish/.  Every voice counts!

*******Enhancement / FMR*********

Brief title for your desired feature: Separate windows for Multi-camera view and Program Monitor, with ability to tilde toggle to full screen either or both.

How would you like the feature to work?

The Multi-camera view and the Program Monitor should occupy separate, individually resizable and maximizable windows.

Why is this feature important to you?

The way these interface elements are currently squeezed into the same window is extremely limiting as far a viewing options.  When the Multi-camera view is displayed, users can no longer do a full-screen preview of their edit, nor can they do a full screen preview of their multi-camera angles.  This is unnecessarily restrictive.  By putting the Multi-camera view in it's own window, and allowing it to be tilde maximized to full screen, users would have so much more flexibility for viewing their camera angles and their final edit while editing multi-camera sequences.
