Premiere Pro is unable to access your preference folder.

Hi there. I just installed Premiere Pro 2015.3 and am getting an error I wasn't getting with the prior version. When I start the program I get this:

"Unable to load third-party audio plug-ins. Premiere Pro is unable to access your Preferences folder. Your user account may not have access rights, or the folder may have been set to Read Only. Please check your permissions and try again."

The program then opens, but the 'ok' button in the preference window doesn't work. It isn't grayed out or anything- I click it and there's no response. To leave the preference window I have to click cancel. I assume this is due to the preference folder error.

I'm logged in as an admin user, and to try to fix the situation I've manually reset the permissions to the folders in ~/library/application support/adobe/premiere pro and documents/adobe/premiere pro (i have no folder in ~/library/preferences labeled adobe) to be read & write for all users. Nothing changed. Then I used the alt+shift trick while opening the program. Nada. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program to no effect. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm on a late 2013 Mac Pro running Yosemite 10.10.4.

Also if trying to do it on another track it instantly drops what I'm trying to move down to tk 1? I can't move them side to side. only up or down and the insert symbol keeps appearing? Any ideas? Was working fin the past few days. I am on a Mac. Also did screen record to show people, but can't post it here. Screen Shot 2017-03-17 at 14.21.22.pngScreen Shot 2017-03-17 at 14.22.03.png

Can't browse other projects in media browser. No dynamic link server?

Hi,

It seems I cannot open projects in the media browser anymore. It used to connect to the dynamic link server whenever I unfolded another project. Now it doesn't do anything anymore.

I can only import entire projects and I don't want to do that every time.

Does anyone know what to do?

Regards,

Karel.

Project Manager freezing on "Analyzing" step.

I'm trying to use the Project Manager to collect and copy the media for archiving purposes.  On large projects (thousands of clips) its start to analyze, and when the progress bar gets about a quarter of the way across it hangs up.  No pinwheeling, it'll just stop progressing.  I've let it go overnight and the progress bar won't budge, and if I hit cancel it will pinwheel.

All of the media is on networked shared storage as well as the project files.

Premiere CC - Closed Captioning not displaying some captions

So I imported an .srt file (which when I did that I had to change the background from transparent to opaque) and everything appeared normal.

However, when I play the video some captions will not display. I check the caption file and it is listed but it won't appear.

I've tried removing it and adding a new caption in the same time slot, but it still doesn't appear.

I've also exported to see if it will just burn into the video since it is technically listed, but it isn't there as well.

I'm confused.

severe BANDING on exports - problem persists

Hi again; since adobe does not answer or solve this big problem i have with their software ; another post

I cannot get adobe premiere pro to export my timelines without severe banding; as if i shot on 8 bit. I'm using canon c300 MK2 XFAVC, every setting looks bad. even 4444 settings.

More users have this problem, but not enough for adobe to solve it, since after every update the problem persists.

I have reported several bug reports, but have no idea if they have been read. I don't get any response. On this forum there are just more people having this problem, nobody has the solution. ADOBE WHERE ARE YOU IN THIS???

How come a 'professional' company does not take its users serious. I'm paying 30 dollars every month, so i think its bit arrogant not to react or even ask for more details.

thanx, Pim

Find Duplicate Frames?

Hi There,

How can one find the location of duplicated clips on a timeline?

In FCP there used be a menu that would list the time-codes of all instances of the duped clips.

Thanks,

Premiere pro, clip name effect and name overlay for export missing text

On OSX 10.9.5, running 15.4 version of pro. This has actually happened since upgrading to the 15 release. (We've upgraded since original CC)

Whenever I add the clip name effect or the name overlay effect in the export options, I just get the blank bar (very small, about the size of a space)

This used to work, am I missing a default font? Reset preferences? Some sort of voodoo magic?

Exporting .avi from Premiere Pro CC 2014

Hi there. I'm trying to export my sequence as an .avi file but in the export settings I just can't find a way to do it?

Might be helpful for me to mention that I am exporting at a custom size (height 1000 x width 10000 for Instagram).

I'm sure it can't be this hard maybe I'm missing something?!

Thank you!

DNXHR 444 doesn't work properly in Premiere! Shame.

Hi there,

Since Premiere still doesn't have a proper RAW decoder, you must go over Resolve with Cinema DNGs. I exported the DNGs to DNXHR 444 and imported the files  into Premiere: The footage looks washed out! I tested out various scenarios (incl. .mxf) and its definitely a Premiere problem!! The footage looks correct Resolve.

Is there a way to fix this? If not, Adobe should really address this!! Other DNX formats work fine (e.g. HQX, LB etc.).

Cheers

Video shaky, blurry and noisy with NEAT video and Mercalli

$

Hi,

I've been trying to render videos of apartments, houses etc. using Adobe Premiere and to make it as stable (via Mercalli) and noiseless (using NEAT Video) as possible. The problems I encounter are following:

1) It seems like when entering different rooms (just as the "footage maker" goes through the door), video becomes pretty much "earthquakey shaky", even though raw footage isn't as nearly as shaky.

2) The borders of video are somewhat blurry/skratchy (at some moments this is more than noticeable), but when the light conditions are darker, the whole video is VERY BLURRY, again, unlike the raw footage.

I understand that the video blurriness is at some extent related to NEAT video trying to remove the noise. But, is there a way to minimize these two problems? Maybe using some different plugins or something like that. Or using different values with above mentioned plugins, maybe?

For example, there are two rendered videos with nearly the same light conditions. The first example video is rendered using Adobe Premiere, where you can see the described problems "in action" Second example video is rendered using different software (whose name I will not mention ), and you can see there are not as nearly as much shake and noise effects as in first video. Adobe Premiere rendering speed is a lot faster than other software I tried, and I would like to continue using Premiere for our videos, but these are some problems I would like to minimize as much as it is possible.

1st example video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPsSs8X3PrU - take a closely look at 26sec and 35sec mark.

2nd example video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42Qnri3A1BE

Thanks in advance,

Marko

For Those Using nVidia's ShadowPlay - Variable Frame Rate

$

This is specifically aimed at the folks (mostly gamers) that are using nVidia's ShadowPlay to record their footage.  By now you hopefully realize that ShadowPlay can only produce variable frame rate h.264 files.  At this point, Premiere Pro stumbles with VFR files and you end up with a potentially out-of-sync final product where the sound and video don't line up.  The fix for this has been transcoding into a CFR (constant frame rate) h.264 file before ingesting it into Premiere.  Very time consuming.

I've recently given OBS Studio a try to record the same gameplay footage (as well as stream to YouTube Live).  OBS uses the same h.264 hardware encoder found on the nVidia cards, but interestingly: it seems to produce files that are CFR.  I've run a few of the output files through MediaInfo and all of them have come back as CFR.  Further, they work in Premiere without any transcoding; everything's in sync.

So if you're not completely married to nVidia's ShadowPlay to record your footage, give OBS Studio a try.  It's vastly more configurable than ShadowPlay as nVidia tried to make it a bit too easy to use (IMHO).  Studio is completely free as it's mainly based off of the most excellent ffmpeg libraries (like Handbrake is).  And, to make sure I'm clear: I have absolutely nothing to do with the project, I'm just a (new) happy user.
