What causes 'Recovered Clips' bins to invade my project and how can I avoid or remove them?

$

I've been sharing sequences on a project.  Unfortunately, Premiere starts creating 'Recovered Clips' bins... thus duplicated media for our project and defeating any effort to keep our media organized.  When sharing sequences, it's impossible for all media to be under the exact same path (with drive letter) across numerous team members, so media must sometimes be located (even if the data tree is the same).  It seems that Premiere creates duplicates for this located media, even though they already exist in the project.  Can I merge these duplicates back into the versions that already exist?

I don't want to to have multiple copies of the same media in our project.

How do I prevent duplicate footage and delete Recovered Clips?

Hello Everyone,

The trouble began about 4 days after we started the project. We had been using MP4 rips while we waited for the PRORES copies to finish. When they finished we off lined the MP4 and reconnected the PRORES. Things were good for a few days but then we noticed that everytime we brought timelines from other editors in, it would duplicate footage. We went though every timeline and replaced the footage with the same set of PRORES, ideally making it use the same master clips for every project. Worked for a day or two when we noticed "Recovered clips" folders show up. I am using the media Browser to bring the sequences in, but no such luck.

When ever I open my editors project, there is a new bin called "Recovered Clips." They aren't connected to anything but always come back every time. They show no usage in the Video Usage columns...however the metadata says different. For the most part I can delete them with no problems but they are starting to pile up and annoy me and more importantly my editor.

I've tried a few different solutions: taking the project, making a new timeline, copying the footage over, deleting the old timeline. Starting a new project, and bringing that new timeline over...but it still brings with it the "Recovered Clips."

XML always makes duplicates of the master clips, so that's not very helpful. All of the files point to the same 6 pieces of footage, but it refuses to use them as master clip. Is there a way to point the footage to the same clips in the project? or clear out the hidden metadata so it doesn't point to offline footage?

Any help would appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Audio out of sync by Adobe premiere cs5.5

I have a major problem. It's not a new problem because I had the same problem in CS3, but expected that the problem would be fixed in CS5.5.

With HDV-video sometimes the audio get out of sync. Before the audio gets out of sync there is a problem with some frames. There are a lot of blocks in the video and after that the video is normal, but the audio is out of sync. Because the audio is ahead of the video I think that in fact the video is out of sync (because of the frame problem earlier).

But now the strangest thing: when I play the video in Windows Media Player or VLC there is NO problem! It's fine! There are no corrupt frames and the audio stays in sync.

So the capturing is OK. It makes no difference capturing with Adobe Premiere (*.mpeg) or with HDVsplit (*.m2t).

Adobe renders the files when importing and I think there is the problem, but what is the solution?

Please help!

The new 2-up display for drag trimming is not working properly but can not be disabled, can it?

The new feature "composite view is shown in the 2-up display in the Program Monitor when drag-trimming an edit point in the timeline", which was mentioned by the Adobe Staff in the post http://blogs.adobe.com/premierepro/2015/06/premiere-pro-cc-2015.html is slowing down the cutting process EXTREMELY as soon as the project has reached a certain length / size. As soon as I start dragging any handle of any object in the timeline, the 2-up display is shown, but needs in bigger projects extremely long to load / refresh any changes.

Note: I am not talking about the normal trimming view, I am talking about the forced 2-up display that appears as soon as I start dragging any handle in the timeline!

The BIG problem is, I can not turn it off. Or can I? Is there a way to fix that? Or at least a way to turn it off?

Recovered clips???

I am working on a long-form documentary in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 8.1.0. I have a question about recovered clips. Due to several crashes early on in the project,  a fair amount of clips in my timeline do not link back to their original bins. They link back to a bin(s) called 'Recovered Clips'. This is highly inconvenient when you are still editing and want to be able to match frame back to the original bin to find other media. Is there a way to reconnect the clips in your timeline back to their original bins, and not back to recovered bins? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!

After "Replace with clip" the original clip can not be deleted from the project - why?

$

After using "replace with clip" to replace clip A in the timeline with a new clip B , clip A can not be deleted from the project anymore.

If you try to delete clip A, you get a warning, that it still has references in one or more sequences.

If you continue and delete clip A, it seems to be deleted - at first!

Unfortunately if you save and reopen the project, clip A is restored to folder "Recovered clips".

It's not possible to really delete it.

I also did not find a way to unlink clip B from A .

The only thing you can do, is to revert the change by "Restore Unrendered" in the clip context menu. But that's obviously not helping

I dont know if this is a bug or a feature. I understand, that it can be useful to undo the "replace clip" function, but why would anyone not want to be able to delete the original clip at all?

help how to fix this problem is greatly appreciated!

Problems with audio play Premier Pro / Windows 10?

$

I'm having audio problems with CC Premier Pro and the newly installed Windows 10

I have some short testimonial clips with separate video and audio (recorded from iPhone6)

When I import the video and then import the audio (.WAV or .MP3) the audio will not play. I can see the bars moving, but no audio from speakers, laptop audio or plug in speakers.

One suggestion on the Internet was to convert the WAV file to MP3. I did that. and both files play fine in Audition. But when I import them into Premier, neither play -- but the bars are still moving.

Could this be a Windows 10 problem?

My experience with Premier is limited -- but I've spent about 6 hours trying to make this work.

Any other suggestions?

I'd be happy to upload the separate audio and video files for troubleshooting help.

Thanks,

John C

Premiere Pro CS6 Project Manager gives error & will not manage project - OS X Lion 10.7.5

Premiere CS6 project manager reports  an error and will not manage my project. I have tried several times with both "Create New Trimmed Project" and " Collect Files and Copy to New Location". I have also tried to manage the project with options checked and unchecked (Include Preview Files, Include Audio Conform Files, Rename Media Files to Match Clip Names). Every time I try to manage the project, the process takes a few hours and then gives an error asking me to try again.

The project is 90 minutes long and uses multiple footage formats:

Sony FS100

Sony NEX7

Sony NEX-5n

Canon C300

Canon 5DmkII

Panazonic HVX200

My computer is:

Processor  2 x 2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon

Memory  12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB

Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)

Is this a bug, or are there specific things I can do to troubleshoot the problem? I have read of issues with AVCHD. I have confirmed all of my AVCHD folders are intact. Any other Ideas?

THANKS!

Minimum equipment needed to shoot basic video

I am a web designer and would like to add video to my services offered. I don't want to do music videos or anything complex, I simply want to shoot video of the client describing their business or services or whatever, seated behind a desk, for example, with a warm background (bookcases come to mind: do these artificial backgrounds exist?). Maybe switch shots from another angle to relieve the monotony. Basic transitional effects. Perhaps add some schmaltzy non-copyrighted music (are there resources for this for video editors?). Some accompanying text, with similar fades, etc.

Or is it even worth the time and effort to invest in this? I recently subscribed to CC so I'd like to get my money's worth out of it. It would be great if there were some resources especially geared to get people on their feet shooting this type of basic video.

Premiere Pro CC. Renders glitchy noisy frames when Three Way Colour Corrector is applied.

My first major edit with PP.  Fine in the timeline but no matter which codec is used to render, frames with Colour Correct, time remap or blur appied all render out glitchy/ noisy.

I discovered this 20 minutes before Tx and so film went out grade-less looking like C-Log and unfortunately wasting hours of work.   XML to Final Cut worked but too many clips needed relinking to be economical.…  Now I gotta talk to an angry broadcaster.
