Proxy Problem CC2018
Hi, my source material is 4K .mxf, shot on Sony FS7.
Typ: MXF
Bildgröße: 4096 x 2160
Framerate: 25,00
Audioformat der Quelle: 48000 Hz - 24-Bit - 8 Kanäle
Pixel-Seitenverhältnis: 1,0
MXF-Dateiinformationen:
Wrapper-Typ: MXF OP1a (Typ: SingleItem SinglePackage MultiTrack Stream Internal)
Datei erzeugt von: Sony, Mem (2.00)
AVC unbeschränkt
Bitstream-Format: Sony
Gamma: S-Log3
Usually I generate my proxy-files with GoPro Cineform, but after the Update Premiere won't link the files back from Encoder to Premiere. There is no switch while activating Proxy-mode. Linking them manually doesn't work either.
Premiere won't accept the H.264 Codec for generating proxy-files as an alternative due to missmatching audio-channels.
Anyone experienced the same and got a solution?
Thanks in advance,
Alex
Stuttering / Choppy playback / Exports? Try unplugging your headset
Hi
For a day now, I have had a very annoying issue with Premiere Pro CC.
Long story short: It suddenly startet stuttering / becoming choppy both in playback and in my exported media files. Also in projects, that had previously worked perfectly. So we knew it couldn't be the original files.
I did everything to fix it. I updated all my drivers, uninstalled and installed updates, uninstalled and installed each and every Adobe product, ect.
Nothing worked.
Not until my IT colleague casually mentioned, that one of his friends once had to update a driver for a microphone, before his game (which didn't use the microphone) would work.
We both looked at my USB headset (sennheiser D 10 BS) , which I had plugged in. We exchanged disbelieving looks.
I unplugged it. And everything went back to normal.
I used a whole day trying to fix the issue - it sucked!
It had nothing to do with my Premiere Pro - and I have no idea how it fixed the issue. It just did.
I only write this post to help people finding themselves in a simular situation, as I spend nearly 2 hours reading through posts on this forum, where people had been (correctly) helped, yet it didn't do anything to fix my problem (as it wasn't an issue with the adobe product)
Btw, I use a Lenovo T470 - just in case you were wondering.
Flickering/Flashing thumbnails on timeline
Hi all,
recently I upgraded to the new iMac Pro and run in to the following problem:
The thumbnails on my timeline randomly flicker/flash during editing and playback. With this bug the system seriously slows down (see video for screencap)
I've seen some previous posts about similar problems but not with the iMac Pro and they're all outdated in my opinion (2014/2015)
Does anyone know how to fix this?
System setup:
iMac Pro 1,1 (running on macOS High Sierra 10.13.2)
3GHz Intel Xeon W (10 core)
64 GB RAM
GPU: Radeon Pro Vega 64 16 GB
Thunderbolt Blackmagic mini monitor --> Flanders Fullscreen playback (sdi)
Premiere Pro version 12.0.0 (build 224)
Things i've tried:
- Reinstall PP
- Switched timeline to second monitor
- All the different (available) video rendering playback (CPU/OpenCL/Metal)
- Open in new shorter timeline
Thanks for help in advance :-)

Premiere Pro CC color / gamma shift on export - is a Premiere not Quicktime problem
I know this is a topic of major frustration for many of us - washed out colors and a very visible gamma shift when exporting out of Premiere Pro. From what I have seen on this forum, people post all kinds of solutions / explanations as to what could cause this problem. Many people think it' a Quicktime problem, some say it has to do with video card drives, or with checking "render as linear color space" or not.
I just did a round of major testing on my iMac running OS 10.12.5 and the latest version of Premiere Pro CC 2017 - and I have to say - nothing I do fixes it or makes any difference. Whatever I export - and that's the key here - Quicktime movies, TIFF sequences, stills - EVERYTHING has a washed-out gamma shift and desaturated colors.
When I take a screenshot of my media within Premiere Pro - colors and gamma of the resulting PNG are exactly as I see them in Premiere. If go through the EXPORT function and export a still image - the colors are faded and the gamma is washed out. And it doesn't matter what is clicked in the export window - maximum depth, linear color space... nothing makes a difference.
Here is another interesting thing I found - when I reimport these washed-out exports (stills or quicktime movies, doesn't matter), inside the Premiere Pro world they look perfectly normal. When I import the same washed-out exports into Final Cut Pro X, the washed out colors and gamma stay. So there must be something in these exports (hidden tags?) that Premiere adds and that it then uses to display the media correctly. Unfortunately every other app in my Mac universe doesn't do the same and is off dramatically.
The problem is - I can't just stay inside Premiere Pro. I have to send tmy cuts out and share them with clients. I need them to see what I see inside Premiere Pro.
Does anyone on the Adobe side have any insight into this? This issue has been going on for years on this forum. I cannot believe that we are still nowhere close to a solution.
Thanks in advance for any hint.

Premiere Half frame Size proxy, interlacing problem, GPU, Blackmagic video out
Hi
in Premiere, 50i footage, playback using Nvidia GPU CUDA, and Blackmagic VIDEO OUT to external monitor ALL IS OK.
when creating proxy files in half the frame size, the video out, is not deinterlacing the footage.
(if I create proxy files at the same frame size just lower bitrate ALL IS OK.)
(playback on the computer screen is ok, it is just when I enable transmit to Blackmagic.)
if I turn off coda acceleration, and using only GPU ALL IS OK
it has something to do with the upscaling of the proxy files..

(URGENT HELP PLEASE!) Random glitching, and flash frames in preview and render
Hey!
I have quite an urgent help request, if anyone has ever faced this issue before.
This morning when attempting to render sequences that were working perfectly last night they are rendering with glitches, artifacts, and constant flash frames. The video will flash between black and video every couple of frames in the render and preview, but all frames are perfectly fine when paused in Premiere Pro so there seems to be some issue with how they are being Rendered. Images attached below, does anyone have any advice?
RED 8k RDM and RDC folders in Media Browser
I am editing a feature that was shot in 8k on the RED Weapon. When bringing the media into the Media Browser, some days it shows up as a series of RDC folders without an RDM folder. On those days, when queued to import, ALL the segments of each R3D file show up ready to import, 001, 002, 003, 004... or whatever depending on length of the shot (each 4gb), when this happens, there is NO RED icon next to the segments, (in list view). If I queue the media from the RDM folders, only the 001 segment shows up from each shot, and the IS a RED icon next to each one. My real question and concern is why, what does the icon represent, and when I import the individual 001 segments from the RDC folders into the project window, am I getting all the data/information from that shot? Side note, but related, if I import all the segments from the RDC folder, (001,002,003...) it will create a file in the project window for each one. So, they are behaving like individual files. Are they all identical, but just with different file designations?

AE layer opacity not translating to Premiere through Dynamic Link
I have a seemingly simple problem:
I have an AE comp with a few lines of text and some very basic masked solids with opacity set to around 60%
This looks fine in AE, but the linked comp in PP shows the solids as fully opaque, nothing see-through here.
Should be a fairly basic set-up, no? Doesn't work though.
What am I doing wrong here?
Font is on computer (system) and in typkit but wont sync "Bebas Neue Regular"

Adobe Premiere exported video is not complete
hello I need help with this problem you will see I have to edit a video but when exporting it to the program it looks only up to a part but it is not seen full nose to what it is but I thank them any help
Video Filter missing: AE.ADBE MPEG.SourceSettings
On one system, an old macpro, this error does not come up and everything is fine.
On systems based on an iMac and a new MacPro, this error comes up at startup "Video Filter missing: AE.ADBE MPEG.SourceSettings"
All Systems Running Premiere 2018.
This project contains some mpeg screen grabbed material that will not play correctly on the systems with errors. It appears it is have problems with the GOP playback (I'm totally guessing.) It plays a couple frames, then plays fragments of previous/past frames.
The most recent version of AE was installed as an attempt to fix this issue. No luck.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Unable to export AAF - Error "AAFRESULT_INSUFF_TRAN_MATERIAL"
Hi All,
I've been trying for days to export an AAF for our audio studio but for some reason I'm not able to.
I get 2 kinds of errors while exporting. The first few errors say:
Cannot export video effect "AE.ADBE Text" (Sequence: <name>, Video Track: "Video 1 (#25), Position 26741, Time: 00;14;52;07) because it is not supported. Effect was ignored.
I get a few of these error messages with different timecodes but when I go to each timecode to check in the timeline there are no effects applied to the video layer at all so I have no idea what effect it is referring to and then right after that, the export fails saying "AAFRESULT_INSUFF_TRAN_MATERIAL"
My next idea was to delete all video and just place a layer of black video on Track 1. This got rid of the "AE.ADBE Text" errors but I still get the "AARESULT_INSUF_TRAN_MATERIAL" error and the export fails.
I then tried to get rid of all effects and cross fades in the audio clips and this time the file finished exporting but when our guy at the audio studio opens it up the audio is all messed up. He says there are multiple layers of dialogue happening at once almost as if two different sequences are being exported at the same time on top of each other, which makes no sense because I only have one sequence in my project.
I've also tried deleting caches, preferences, reinstalling, etc. My last attempt was to switch to a different computer to see if that was the issue but I'm still not able to export the AAF successfully.
I'm not sure what else to try since I'm not too familiar with AAF files and I'm desperate now since I've got a deadline looming. I'm hoping someone can suggest something that I haven't thought of.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Laggy Playback
I have a MacPro Desktop computer:
Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro6,1
Processor Name: 6-Core Intel Xeon E5
Processor Speed: 3.5 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 6
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 12 MB
Memory: 32 GB
Hard drive: 512 GB SSD
I was able to edit multicam perfectly for over a year on this machine, mixing 4k and 1080 footage with no issues. Recently I have been having playback issues on just a single clip, where if i even try to speed up the play back, it will almost freeze the video, but keep playing audio. It seems to do this for almost every format of video I have put into it. I uninstalled Premiere and reinstalled it, but that didn't fix it. I gave it more RAM, nothing, cleaned all my cache, still nothing. Is there a known bug or issues that causes this?

Non-Project Based Auto-Save
Hi everyone,
My workflow primarily is having footage and project on an external drive and working off of that on multiple computers (office, home office, laptop on the go). Previously, I had my autosave set to the same folder as my project file. However, after losing a couple drives I realized I should set my autosave to a separate drive such as my internal computer hard drive. I usually back up my drives at the end of the workday but you can still potentially lose a day's worth of work should something go wrong.
Since I work on a project on multiple computers, if my autosave is set to a drive different from my project, everytime I switch computers and open my project I have to change the autosave destination.
Possible to have a global auto-save vs a project based autosave so that no matter what project or computer I'm working on the autosave destination can stay consistent?
Thanks,
James
