.wav import to premiere.

Hi

I have a short two minute film that I have made and have put into premiere to edit. A friend of mine made the score and sound effects file as a a wav and gave me to import it into premiere for my film. I thought it would be a simple case of importing the file into premiere and everything would match up, but I find that although the time of the .wav is correct at two minutes, the audio is not synced and seems to play faster. I've tried syncing up with other programs, but nothing seems to work. Could it be some kind of bitrate problem or something? When I look at the file properties in premiere, I see:

Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 24 bit - Stereo

Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo

Please can someone help, because this thing not syncing is driving me crazy!

Thanks
