Hey guys,
as I am using mpeg2 videos frequently in Premiere, in the container of transport streams (.ts) or program streams (.mp2) I came across a bug from the early times of the DVD.
When importing such a clip into a timeline (all 720x576i50), using "show both fields" and external monitoring via SDI, I can see that the 4:2:0 chroma information does not get upsampled properly.
Means: as described here and in more detail here, Premiere does not distribute the chroma evenly amongt adjacent lines. Best seen in deep red areas with motion you only have the red in alternating lines, resulting in interlace and aliasing artifacts.
Compare these two images. The first is the correct upsampling, the second shows what Premiere Pro does with it.
Does anybody have a solution for this? But report?
Thanks for help!
