Hello Adobe Support,
We are running Adobe Premier Pro CC 2017 with a Blackmagic Decklink Studio 4K I/O card (Driver Version 10.8.5) upon a Windows 7 machine. HP 440, Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-1650 v3 @ 3.50GHz, with 32 GB RAM, and Quadro M4000 Video Card.
When Premier is initially launched, we are able to output and monitor video and audio without any issues. We are monitoring embedded audio.
But after completing a file capture, audio monitoring is completely lost. Even though both Premiere and Windows Sound meters indicate that audio is being produced and directed to the Blackmagic device. Video output still works.
Now the only way to regain the ability to output audio via the Dekclink card is by completely shutting down Premiere, and then either:
1. Re-launching Premiere. I then get Premiere or Windows audio to output from the Blackmagic device.
2. With Premiere closed, toggle the default Windows Playback device between the Blackmagic card and the onboard Windows audio card.
Is this something which you have witnessed before, and/or how can I resolve this.
Other points I wanted to share are:
- During files capture, I see the video output to my monitor, but unable to hear the captured audio. even though I can see the Premiere audio meters showing that audio is present. I am able to still hear other Windows audio. Example, having a YouTube clip playing in the background.
- After capturing, if I make the onboard PC sound card as the default audio output device, I am able to hear both the Premiere and Windows audio.
- In a few instances, after shutting down Premiere, and waiting a few minutes, audio would once more output from the Blackmagic card.
So, in summary, we are getting weird and unexpected behaviors when it comes to audio with Premiere and the Blackmagic DeckLink card. This isn't isolated to a single machine, but I have been able to reproduce it on several machines.
I have emailed Blackmagic and waiting on a follow up email from them. Their initial response after testing with a Mac Pro running OS X 10.11.6, Desktop Video 10.8.5, and Adobe PP 2015.4 build 10.4.0 (30) is that they are unable to reproduce this issue. I have asked whether they can retest using a Windows system and 2017.
Thanks,
Nkwenten
