How To Extend a video clip with a still frame?

$

I thought I remember reading some place that there is an easy way to extend the end of a video clip with the last frame.  I can't recall what that is.

Currently, I always go to the end of myu video clip, do a screen shot, then drag it on to the end. Is there a faster way to do thiis?

I need help!

I have recorded an elegato video with my facecam using the elegato software.

When I add my game footage complete with my facecam to premiere pro I only get game audio.

My facecam is still in the corner but no audio what so ever comes out.

I know it works because when I watch it before putting it in premiere pro all is fine.

I am completely new to this and have no clue what I need to do.

I have searched youtube etc for answers but cannot find anything to do with this problem.

Please help.

Thanks

Re-Subscribing [and using previous plug-ins]

Hello,

I am going to be resubscribing to Premier Pro, and want to make sure I do it in the proper way so that my plug in's that I used before were still available. Will this automatically happen or do I need to follow certain steps?

Thanks,

Davis

Premiere Pro Title Background Not Transparent

$

I have several students working on Macs using Premiere Pro CS6 that when they insert a title into the timeline the background of the title is not transparent, therefore covering up the background video in the track below it.  We have been able to go in and add the LUMA Key effect to the title to temporarily deal with the problem, but this is not a good permanent fix.  Is there a setting that may have been messed up on these computers?  Is there something we need to change to make sure the backgrounds are transparent?

Trying to move clip, it jumps to lower track

As the title says, I am trying to slide a clip and it keeps jumping to the lower track. I have tried to close and open the program but that doesn't work. Does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks for your time.

Adobe rgb avchd footage. How to transcode to cineform srgb?

$

0

I have recorded a lot of footage both RAW (hyperlapse) and Video (AVCHD). For the video shots I have used framerates of 23.976 and 59.976 for slow motion. Before I went on the shoot I quickly had to set up a camera with some settings and set it to Adobr rgb, because someone said so.

However, now that I have read my way around different color spaces and the AVCHD codec, I found out that using Adobe RGB may have not been the best idea in terms of postproduction complications. Also I want to transcode the footage to a better performing codec and therefore decided to transcode to eather a cineform yuv 10 bit or rgba 12 bit (windows system).

I know that I could work on the footage natively in premiere, but I have plenty storage space and would like to increase the performance. Also, I am planning to do lots of grading as well as time remapping, masking and transitions in after effects without losing more quality.

Now I have the following question: Might it happen that if I use prelude and adobe media encoder to quicktime cineform, the color space will not be analysed properly and therefore it will clip some of the colors? I can't find anything about that, or even anyone who asked a question about how to batch transfer a video from Adobe rgb to a srgb color space.

Thanks for all of your help and corrections. I am relatively young so all of the concepts are relatively new to me. However I want to make sure that I can develop a workflow that allows me to be more professionell in the future and fulfill my creative goals.

Odd Title behavior with CC 2017

Just wanted to show this to Adobe... and maybe someone could answer my question. https://vimeo.com/207341985

This video is a 30 second commercial which I have reworked many times for different theaters and markets around the country. So I've created a new version using 2017. Exactly 7 1/2 seconds in the graphic "starring Peter Fogel" starts moving left at the same time the camera begins a pan. So the title is centered under the logo and at the end of the scene the graphic has moved to the left ever so slightly. I have not "key framed" the title and the position of the title layer is set at 960, 540 throughout the scene. This behavior is very odd. Later in the spot the same graphic is on the screen when the camera pans to the right and the graphic does not move!

Problem creating Ingest Preset

I have been trying to add a Ingest Preset to PP CC.  I created a Avid DNxHR Preset in AME and exported it to a .exp file.  When I tried importing it by clicking on the Add Ingest Preset... I got the following error.

Screen Shot 2017-03-07 at 22.11.41.png

I had Match Source selected in the preset in AME.

How do I fix this?

Open captions won't export

I've found another person asking the same question but it still doesn't work for me.

I made an open caption and every time I try to export within Media Encoder by queueing, the caption won't export. On top of that, when I go back to Premiere, the caption doesn't show up on the program monitor even though the caption is right there on the sequence. Although it works just fine when I export within Premiere, not Media Encoder. But this means that I can't do any work while exporting. I found this is very time-wasting.

Loss of Premiere Pro Blackmagic I/O Audio Output After File Capture

$

Hello Adobe Support,

We are running Adobe Premier Pro CC 2017 with a Blackmagic Decklink Studio 4K I/O card (Driver Version 10.8.5) upon a Windows 7 machine. HP 440, Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-1650 v3 @ 3.50GHz, with 32 GB RAM, and Quadro M4000 Video Card.

When Premier is initially launched, we are able to output and monitor video and audio without any issues. We are monitoring embedded audio.

But after completing a file capture, audio monitoring is completely lost. Even though both Premiere and Windows Sound meters indicate that audio is being produced and directed to the Blackmagic device. Video output still works.

Now the only way to regain the ability to output audio via the Dekclink card is by completely shutting down Premiere, and then either:

1. Re-launching Premiere. I then get Premiere or Windows audio to output from the Blackmagic device.

2. With Premiere closed, toggle the default Windows Playback device between the Blackmagic card and the onboard Windows audio card.

Is this something which you have witnessed before, and/or how can I resolve this.

Other points I wanted to share are:

- During files capture, I see the video output to my monitor, but unable to hear the captured audio. even though I can see the Premiere audio meters showing that audio is present. I am able to still hear other Windows audio. Example, having a YouTube clip playing in the background.

- After capturing, if I make the onboard PC sound card as the default audio output device, I am able to hear both the Premiere and Windows audio.

- In a few instances, after shutting down Premiere, and waiting a few minutes, audio would once more output from the Blackmagic card.

So, in summary, we are getting weird and unexpected behaviors when it comes to audio with Premiere and the Blackmagic DeckLink card. This isn't isolated to a single machine, but I have been able to reproduce it on several machines.

I have emailed Blackmagic and waiting on a follow up email from them. Their initial response after testing with a Mac Pro running OS X 10.11.6, Desktop Video 10.8.5, and Adobe PP 2015.4 build 10.4.0 (30) is that they are unable to reproduce this issue. I have asked whether they can retest using a Windows system and 2017.

Thanks,

Nkwenten

Graphics Issue on my macbook pro 2016 when using premiere

Hi Rameez,

Unfortunately the GPU issues with Premiere never really stop.

OpenCL and Metal renderer will cause a problem with Premiere Pro CC 2017 (Latest version) on Mac Sierra (10.12.3)

when using Red footage (.R3D files). If you apply effects from their Lumetri color panel the exported file will flicker strangely. Its most visible when using the vignette effect.

Heres an example with OpenCL:

A005 C001 03022K 001 1 on Vimeo

And this is the render with Metal:

A005 C001 03022K 001 on Vimeo

Its only visible on the rendered files NOT in Premiere preview.

Ive testet it on two machines (MacBook Pro Late 2013 and MacBook Pro 2016 with Radeon 460 card) . It happens on both machines when using OpenCL or Metal with Premiere. It doesn't happen when I set the render engine to CUDA (which I can of course only do on the 2013 Macbook with an NVIDIA card) or "Software only" mode.

Ive contacted Apple support over this, but they seemed very indifferent. The senior support guy I talked to didn't even know Premiere Pro....Any suggestions ? Thank you

Switching from one video clip to another and then back again in editing

Sorry if this title doesn't explain what my question is.  I'm having trouble searching it because I don't know what it's called.  I shot video from two different camera.  I want to put them together and switch from one view or camera view to the other view without messing with the audio and then back again to the first view video.  (I recorded a guitar lesson with a wide shot and then a close up of hand movements.)  I want start with the wide shot video, go to the close up shot video and then back out to the wide shot video.  What would you call this and how do I do it?

Premiere Pro crashes when switching between application

Hi all,

I edit with Premiere Pro on a cylinder Mac Pro in OS X 10.10.2 (3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5, 16 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 ECC, FirePro D500 3072 MB), when I was logging the footage with Excel, I noticed after a few times switching between Excel and Premiere Pro or any other apps, Premiere Pro ALWAYS crashes with the Serious Error message.

This is very disappointing and frustrating as you have to open the recovery file, which create another project file, and have to look for timecode all over again, wasted a lot of time. You would expect premiere pro to work smoothly on a Mac Pro.

Does anyone have similar experience or know a solution?

Thanks,

L

Title Tool not kerning & other recent bugs

$

What is going on with PP 2017?  Is this a conscious decision to remove functionality, or an oversight?

Is anyone else experiencing the Title Tool unable to manually kern by using the alt (option) + arrow keys?  I use(d) this *daily* to adjust the kerning of a particularly nasty typeface (for instance a pair of "1"s with default kern drives our Creative Director nuts).

Now holding alt+hitting the arrow keys does...nothing.  Where have you moved my cheese to?

Seeing as PP doesn't have any batch-renaming functionality (like that of Bridge) people who have to generate countless derivative versions with incremental numbers do this manually with the numberpad, but Adobe changed the functionality of the ENTER key to be ALL STOP, instead of CONTINUE,  which is the way it has functioned since the beginning of time, crossing over into other software like EXCEL.

Re: Renaming Behavior in 2017

Are you a power-user?  Do you make use of numerous self-styled shortcut keys using the numberpad?  Not anymore you don't!  PP 2017 wipes them all out.  How thoughtful.

Where did all the numeric-keypad shortcuts go in Premiere CC 2017?

As a frustrated user testing the waters of 2017 I must say I'm not impressed.  Can someone shed any light on why all this long-standing functionality is being stripped away?  It is truly infuriating...

(Oh, and don't bother relying on the numerous presets you've created for AME--they'll have been altered (DNxHD I'm looking at you) such that they are incapable of completing a render.  Somehow a DNxHD 1080p 8bit preset got internally altered to be 720p 10bit.  No worries--only took me about forever and a day to discover that had happened transparently.  Not everyday you go through your presets with a fine-toothed comb!  Maybe there's a known issues document I should be consulting before losing it here...I'm going off to look...)

Adobe Premiere Pro Crashing During Export

$

I just finished working on a project in Premiere Pro several days ago. The preview plays perfectly, so there is clearly no corrupted or misplaced file that the program cannot locate. However, when I go to export the project, Premiere crashes about twenty seconds into the export process, spitting out a corrupted file under the name of the first video clip in the project. This experience has been very frustrating and stressful, so any guidance would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Best Proxy Codec, interesting results (Avid DNxHR is my winner, or maybe HDV)

$
0
0

Been doing some research on what Codec to use to generate proxies and the results are below.  Posting this in the PP not AME forum as its about proxies which are used in PP (although AME is used to make them).

Source clip – Panasonic HC-X1C 1:18min 1.5GB
Destination Clips (all 720P)MinSecMB
H.264Vimeo HD25491.60
QuicktimeProres (Proxy)127192.20
QuicktimeDV Wide232295.90
QuicktimeHDV126139.00
QuicktimeMPEG 4 Video126139.00
QuicktimeAvid DNxHR LB 8 bit126175.20
QuicktimeH.264 (50% quality)24452.20Quality Not good
QuicktimeH.264 (75% quality)245135.30
Using a i7. Source disk is RAID5 with 4x7200 disks. Destination is a SSD. Computer has 16GB memory

So fort he smallest files the H.264 Vimeo HD seting is best (The quicktime H.264 50%b quality was so bad I discounted it).  On the quality side I am wanting proxies not it is not the prime consern so I am not going to get hung up on it too much.

Both the Avid DNxHR (update of DNxHD) and the prores proxy are both the fastest but the Avid is smallest so I will probably be using the Avid for my proxies.  Also nice that is works on windows and Mac (I was using a Mac).

Adobe Media Composer version is 2017.0.2

Hope this is helpful.  Ben

PS Actually HDV 720p should really be the winner I guess.  Need to give this some thought, interested on what people think.

Broadcast workflow - multiple broadcasters

$

So a little background.  We have a doc which is roughly an hour that we have got into a film festival.  The next step is to try to sell it to broadcasters around the world. Thing is different broadcasters require slightly different durations.   So we need a full round-trip for both picture and sound.  The picture bit is easy, we use Resolve.  We have used audition for sound but the best we can do is bring stems back (which is not sufficient).   Any advice?

Keyboard Shortcut for Time Remapping FX Badge?

$

Hey gang,

So I already have Shift+R assigned to open the Speed/Duration dialog box, but is there a way to assign a keyboard shortcut to change the FX badge focus on a selected clip in the timeline? (motion, opacity, time remapping) I do a lot of keyframe time remapping, and right-clicking each clip gets old. Even changing the default to time remapping instead of opacity would be a win. The ultimate win, actually.

Thoughts?

Thanks!
